The Power of Anointing of the Sick: Seeking God's Healing Grace
The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a profound and powerful ritual within the Catholic Church. It is administered to those who are seriously ill or near the end of their lives. Through the anointing with holy oil and the prayers of the priest, the person receives spiritual and physical strength, comfort, and healing. Anointing of the Sick signifies God's compassionate presence in times of suffering and invites the grace of the Holy Spirit to bring peace, courage, and hope to those in need. This sacrament not only brings comfort to the sick but also offers an opportunity for communal prayer and support from the faith community. It reminds us of the sacredness of human life and the importance of entrusting one's pain and struggles to God's loving care. Those who are in danger of death from sickness or old age should receive this sacrament. Also anyone scheduled for surgery. You may receive the Anointing of the Sick again if you recover and become sick again, or if your illness worsens.
Please contact the Parish Office if you or a friend or relative needs to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at 610-586-1225 or via email at office@stgabrielnorwood.org.
